Hi this is Sue. Well we have all been on this journey for a few weeks now and I just want to lists the ways I have been able to drive traffic to my blog and win the competition for the most visitors to my site. I know how many visitors I have had because my friend Google keeps count with Google Analytics.

These are the methods I have employed.
* Creating my blog and adding to it. This enables the Search engines to index it. The more posts and content you add the higher you can be indexed. This is the beginning of SEO.
* Commenting on other peoples blogs to create back links. This can be very time consuming but well worth it. I received a lot of comments on my blogs and answered each one individually.
* Added my site to Google. To do this go to www.google.com/addurl. This enables Google to “crawl” your site.
* Joining forums – the Warrior Forum and Digital Point Forum. I especially like the Warrior Forum. This is a forum specifically for people on the net. It is a forum where the more experienced will help the newbies. One thing is to always include your URL in your signature block. This allows the members follow you.
* Using social media like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Ning. I increased my Twitter followers and automated a reply to anyone who sent a direct message they were following me. I went to Facebook and posted about my blog and a link to it. I joined the syndicated sites of LinkedIn and Ning and again posted my URL there.
* Blogs and articles. I wrote an Ezine Article, a wordpress blog, a Hub page and a squidoo lens. I then linked these to my sue mcdonald blog.

What did I find gave me the best results? The most visitors were direct and then the second was Warrior Forum. I have included a screen shot to show you the result. Now this week I have a challenge in making a video. All I can say is keep watching this space to see how it turns out   a little out of my comfort zone with this.

What’s In A Name?

Hi – this is Sue here again. I want to tell you about the very beginning of this course. Mark said he wanted use to brand ourselves with our own names. Just first name surname.com. Obviously, he did not realize that if you type sue mcdonald into Google you come up with (today) 748000 entries spread over 846 URLs.

Have you ever looked at this search in Google? Amongst the linked names (to name a few) are artists, photographers, Doctors, a clinical psychologist and Real Estate agents. But there are so many entries of people wanting to sue McDonald.

They want to sue for various reasons one group of youngsters sued because McDonald  failed to warn them that fast food can lead to obesity. Didn’t their parents ever tell them the risks of eating fast food all the time?

One couple wanted to sue McDonald because the husband left his cell phone at one of their restaurants and the naked pictures of his wife were uploaded to the internet.

This one bought a smile to my face. This guy wanted to sue McDonalds because it clearly states on the side of the bag; “From the hundreds of varieties available, fewer than 10 types of potatoes and apples are good enough for McDonald’s. And to give you perfect grapes, we carefully pick each one hand by hand.”

He didn’t believe there were 10 different varieties of potatoes never lone 100 varieties or more and he was not aware of any product where McDonalds used grapes. He sought advice to see if he could sue them. He must have thought he knew their products very well.

I could not find any court ruling on any article  so I do not know if anyone won or lost.

So, you could see the predicament I was in, with the plain name of Sue McDonald and no middle name. Then Mark suggested I put a hyphen in the name and try that. It worked but the next trick was to get my ranking up with Google. I must have started at the very bottom. I checked after 10 days and out of the 846 I had reached position196. Just before I started writing this blog, I checked again. I have reached the dizzy heights of 144. I will keep working on driving traffic and see how far I can get my site up in the Google rankings.

Just gotta love your work….
